H-eyy...

I'm Biara.  Thanks for popping by!

I created this website so I can keep all my ramblings together in the same place in a somewhat organised manner! And hopefully it helps others find health/exercise information, be inspired to do their bit in lessening the human load on "mother earth" (+ reach out and send me tips too!), and maybe feel less alone in their mental health journey.

About Me....

I'll try to summarise my life story.

I grew up in a fairly large family of unique, intelligent individuals, probably who all don't really fit in with "the norms." But we managed, mostly. I was privileged to be exposed to sport and music throughout childhood (Thanks M&D). I love music but didn't follow that. I have followed the exercise and health path as I found my calling helping other's exercise. I feel better (emotionally/ cognitively/ psychologically/  physically) and love sharing that with people. So 2 days after my final school exam I started studying to be a Personal Trainer. I tried that for a year (got a job quickly but was unfortunately counter-mentored, and employed by a company that was secretly liquidating). I worked 2 other jobs in hospitality, and saved up for uni for the following year (8 hours from my hometown).

I studied a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Nutrition then a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Rehabilitation).

Throughout study, as you do in your 20s, I learnt about myself, and others. Actually I take that back... that's not 20s. That's lifetime. What I really mean is that I struggled with mental health symptoms (fluctuating mild-severe depression, fluctuating mild-severe anxiety, borderline borderline, borderline aspie, probable ADD)(ADD actually explains all the other symptoms, and though I have not forked out $$ to see a psychiatrist, it really came to my attention after this conversation with my psychologist 3 years ago: Me- "My Dad and Aunt think I have ADD" Psych - "Oh, you didn't know?"

Back to my life story... after studying, I worked in my hometown for a year, including EP and life modelling (which I started during my Masters). Then I set off to travel around Australia (my self-determined precursor to travelling the world). I picked and packed mangos and lychess in far north queensland, helped my aunt on her cattle farm and drove some tractors. I only made it 3 months in before I was offered a promising opportunity in my a profession (again, a bit of a failure but always good learning experience).

I worked various EP roles for another 2.5 years, and experienced a very unhealthy romantic relationship (again, rough, but boy did I learn a lot) before migrating to Darwin for a life changing experience working as an EP in the remote aboriginal communities of the NT (maybe one day I'll be back?). (And I continued modelling!)

A year later after being crushed by stress (work (not work's fault)(I'm learning better balance and boundaries), friends, family, isolation, developing country in our own country etc.) I moved to Sydney to be closer to my friends and family. Here I grew as an EP and a person; so fortunate to find amazing work environments with inspirational mentors, meet awesome new friends, strengthen family relationships and develop my understanding and management of mental health.

But alas, the itch in my feet worsened and early 2019 I left life as I knew it, to go explore life as I don't know it. I'm exploring places and people, different cultures, different beauties. Often with my EP lenses on, and always with my Eco-Heart.

I'm so lucky to now as I travel, still be in the health scene as a freelance Health Writer! And I also get to dip my toes in the art and modelling world, now having modeled in Australia, Thailand and Vietnam!😎🙃

P.S I know I need a better home-page photo LOL. I model for artists, I'm not a beauty/fashion model and if they were subjects at school I would get a -F. I'm bad at photos..
